Under the Hood: Machine Learning Meets Colour Theory
- Image extraction is done with a modified implementation of K-means clustering -
a well-known and widely used algorithm for segmenting groups within a population.
- Palette from Prompt is an experimental feature which uses an ensemble of models to turn words into a palette.
- An open-source Sentence Transformer first turns the words into a list of numbers (also known as an embedding).
- A Multi-Headed Transformer then builds a colour palette based on the embedding.
- Pros; Zero-shot learning capabilities (can attempt to build a palette it has never been trained on).
- Cons; It can sometimes come up with totally unexpected results.
